'Shared'

The Horseshoe Inn, also known locally as The Bridges, is situated at the base of the South Shropshire hill range known as The Long Mynd.

Since 2004 the pub has held it's doors wide open and welcomed countless musicians and music fans to share in each others appreciation for every variety of music imaginable.  With it’s regular Monday evening Open Mic' Session, plus a further three nights a week of live music, it has provided the area with a much needed, and dearly loved, opportunity for the local community to enjoy live music in deliciously welcoming surroundings.

The Horseshoe Inn, perhaps more importantly, is also home to Maureen & Bob MacCauley and it is only through their generosity and love of music and people alike that all of the above has been possible.

As many of us are already acutely aware these are difficult times, financially speaking, that we are living through and worse still, there seems to be no relief in sight any time soon. Nationwide communities are being robbed of their social hubs as hundreds of pubs have been forced to close. Our aim is to raise awareness of the great things that have been happening at The Horseshoe Inn, so that they may continue their work in supporting live, original music.

To date, The Horseshoe Inn has hosted two music festival days, 'A Day At The Bridges', firstly in July of 2009 and again, in July this year, the event was repeated to great success, accompanied by a second day of folk music with it’s 'Folk Against Fascism' event. These music festival days have introduced the pub to an audience reaching far wider than it’s Shropshire environs and it is with the support of all these new friends that Maureen & Bob, in conjunction with the ‘Shared’ organisation, hope to raise the funds that will help see them through into 2011, where they will be able to continue the wonderful job that they have been doing for the last six years.

So what, you may ask, has 'Shared' got to do with The Horseshoe Inn? 'Shared' is an ongoing acoustic project that was born out of Miles Hunt & Erica Nockalls (The Wonder Stuff) attending The Horseshoe Inn's Monday evening Open Mic’ Sessions. So impressed were they by the local singers and musicians that they invited a handful of them to record for the first ‘Shared’ acoustic compilation album (released worldwide on IRL in 2009) alongside some more established artists, including Wayne Hussey of The Mission. Hunt is currently in the process of recording the second 'Shared' album, also featuring artists local to the Shropshire area that he has met at The Horseshoe Inn. We hope very much that the success of The Horseshoe Inn’s previous outdoor live events can be repeated, Maureen & Bob have created such a wonderful environment during the last six years, it would be a tragedy to see that end.

Please show your support by attending what promises to be a very special day. The day itself, Saturday September 11th, will kick off at 3pm and will feature the following artists:
Miles Hunt & Erica Nockalls (The Wonder Stuff)
Dirty Ray (Immaculate Fools)
Ian Prowse (Amsterdam/Pele)
Emma & The Professor
Timothy Parkes
The Daughters
Rob Dunsford
Brent Lee
Smoke Feathers
Matthew Derrick
Dan Donnelly.

Tickets available on the gate, priced at just £5.00.
